New movement in a compact case with a rated operating distance of 300 m.
The modern “62MAS”, by far a best-seller in multiple models, has been substantially upgraded with the Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver’s Watch. This new diver is the direct successor of the cal. 6R35-powered models include the 2021 SPB143 and SPB239.
Launched in two regular production models (SPB451 and SPB453), as well as a 100th anniversary special edition (SPB455), the latest Prospex “62MAS” improves on the earlier model in three key areas: water resistance is now 300m, case Slightly deeper and more compact, the movement is now cal. The 6R55 has a 72-hour power reserve.
As is usually the case with Prospex dive watches, the latest 62MAS is rugged and beautiful. New divers are a safe choice because they rely on a proven formula - the classic 62MAS design with improved technical features. The SPB455 is particularly eye-catching with its retro-style gold-plated decoration.
That said, the design remains traditional. From a distance, it is difficult to distinguish them from their predecessors. A more unique design, perhaps a patterned dial that Seiko specializes in, would make these more eye-catching.
